| Before! |
I wanted to create something festive for the 4th and was lucky enough to find this patriotic piece. I have a few guest appearances with this dress which is exciting! My mother-in-law was willing to participate in helping display the before shot! She actually just surprised me by putting it on which got a laugh. Thanks mom!

| Rip off that pocket! |
I decided to start by using my handy ripper to remove the pocket since I was going to be taking the dress in. If I left it where it was it would have gotten taken in and I liked the size it was.
 |
| Pocket off! See you again soon! |
 |
| Pins pins and more pins! |
Next I put on the dress to see how I would like the sides taken in. This is getting more and more difficult for me to do with form fitting dresses. I've pinned myself more than I can count and my skin is starting to resemble that of a drug addict so my next purchase might be a dress form. Anyone looking to donate one to a good cause?

| Scissors cause I'm impatient! Re-attach! |

Making mom cringe again I cut the bodice from the skirt because I didn't want to spend time ripping it. I cut off about 2 1/2 inches from the bodice past the 4th button since I wanted a high waist. Then I sewed it back on basting it first to make sure I liked the look. Then I realized that I needed to add a zipper because I couldn't get it on... woops! Lesson learned.
 |
| Zipper to the rescue! |
I then ripped out a side seam to place the zipper. I had saved it from a previous piece thinking I would put it to use again. Good thing since this dress cost me $3 which is more than my usual budget and was getting costly.

| Zipper in! |
I really got down to the wire finishing this dress, 30 minutes prior to the parade, I might need to fix my stitching later...

| Me and my Grandpa! |
